Gordon Colpitts started Xtra as a Xerox Authorized Sales Agency in 1999 and Derek Foley joined him as an equal partner in the business approximately two years later. Xtra went on to become the largest Xerox Agency in Atlantic Canada.
In 2010, after many years of wanting to do better for their customers, Xtra became an independent Canon Authorised Dealer. The goal for Gordon and Derek was, and still is, to deliver the most dependable, best backed, office equipment solutions available to their customers. In just a few short years, Xtra has grown to become the largest Canon Dealer east of Montreal.
Xtra didn’t stop there, in order to offer the best line of imaging products to all Maritime businesses, they decided to fill out their product line by becoming authorized dealers for KIP, in 2011 and Lexmark in 2013. In doing so, they were able to support small business owners with Lexmark’s reliable line of small and medium sized work-group printers, and also to support those companies who need more specialized wide format printing options with top-of-the-line printers from both Canon and KIP.

Gordon is a veteran of the office equipment industry having begun his career in sales in 1989. He has worked in a range of businesses over the years, from small companies to fortune 500s.
If he has learned on thing along the way, it would be – that the key to success is in having an unwavering focus on customer satisfaction. Gordon believes that this focus is the cornerstone of Xtra’s unprecedented growth and success.
Vice President Sales
Derek has been involved with the office equipment industry since 1991 starting with Halifax Office Products, and moving to Xerox in 1997. In 2002, He joined Gordon at Xtra as an equal partner.
Derek’s main focus over the years has been directed at sales. His approach has never been to over-sell, but to create systems that will work for each clients individual needs; he takes pride in developing the right solutions for both new and current clients alike.
